My internet connection speed is reduced to crawling. It is allegedly due to a broken cable linking Singapore to the Philippines.
To my horror, I found that the googlebot has been sending numerous requests to my wap site. The total hits to my site per day should be less than 2000 a days, but it was more than 10,000 yesterday. I do not think this is an attack. It is likely to be caused by some stupid errors in the crawling software. I have added a line in my .htaccess to deny the access from the googlebot.
Amid all the dismays, there is one piece of excitement. My emacs page is referenced by a book, "Learning GNU Emacs", published by O'Reilly. I take this as a recognition and encouragement, although it may sound insignificant to others, especially when it is only listed in the appendices, among tens of URLs. I will try to get a copy of that book as souvenir.
